A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend, Paul Arthur Horst passed away in his home with family on June 20, 2013. He was born in Tacoma on April 17, 1947 to Alexander Horst and Martha Volkman. Paul was raised in Tacoma, where he attended Lincoln High School, graduating in 1965. He went on to the University of Washington, where he played football for the Huskies before a knee injury ended his career. He left the University to work for Burlington Northern as a truck driver, where he earned a "million miles" ring for safe driving. His position would be transferred to a different company over the years, and he retired from Eagle Transport in 1999. Paul had many hobbies throughout the years, including rock climbing, scuba diving, photography, race car driving, rodeo riding, and most especially fishing. He lived aboard his boat for several years and even after moving to dry land he always had a boat to take out salmon fishing and crabbing. He had an artistic eye for photography, and worked side jobs as a photographer and partnered with his good friend Dan Fear to open a black and white photography gallery in the early 1970s. He moved on from that business but his love of photography continued and he took many treasured pictures of family and friends. Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Diana Sarandos Horst; sister Rebekah Caruso and her husband Dick; sister Marcy Horst; brother Mark Horst and his wife Rebecca; his son, Eric Horst and wife Diana Horst of Shoreline; his daughter, Sasha Horst of Bellingham; stepson Bob Ohlson and his wife Rhonda; stepdaugher Laurie Ohlson; his grandchildren Sophia Horst, Eeva Horst, Wyatt Harris, Fiona Harris, Megan Ohlson, Bobby Ohlson, Emma Rood, Allison Ohlson, Alexandra Patrick, Jennifer Patrick, Jessica Patrick; and his great-grandchildren, Iliana Ohlson, Shyloh Bolduc, Daylee Bolduc and Wyatt Powell.
