Paul Peter Ignasiak
December 24th, 1931 - May 5th, 2019
Ignasiak P. Paul, age 87, of Erie, Pennsylvania passed away on May 5, 2019 at James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. Paul was born and raised in Erie, PA. He recently moved to Port Richey, FL. in 2017 to reside with his daughter, Brenda. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1976 from Erie Technological. Somewhat of a philosopher, who was known for his quality writing and penmanship was occasionally solicited to draft speeches for local politicians. Later in life, he was known for helping many seniors in his Erie residence, whom appreciated him taxing them to their appointments & helping them perform daily tasks. Paul enjoyed fishing, shopping, eating sweets, sipping on port wine and was never known to turn down a cold beer. Known as a novice gardener with a fondness for the peace rose. He also enjoyed bird watching with an affinity towards the red cardinal. His family will remember his singing around the house, his quiet sense of humor and his love for football. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Veronica Ignasiak and all 18 of his siblings. Paul is survived by his ex-wife, Joan Ignasiak of Land O’ Lakes, FL; son, Paul Andrew Ignasiak of Holiday, FL; daughters, Andrea Hayes of Wolfpoint, MT, Linda Ignasiak and Mark Yaremchuk of Tampa, FL, and Brenda Powell and her husband Matthew of Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Aria Schwartz and her husband Al, Kerby Hayes, James Brawn and his wife Candice, and Christopher Brawn and his wife Christine; great grandchildren, Atom, Asher, and Ayden Schwartz, Lucas and Bianca Brawn. Paul is loved & will be missed by many. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Trinity Cemetery in Erie, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting volunteering your time at your local VA/ elderly home or donate to a disabled veteran charity. Special thanks to the staff at Haley’s Cove Community Living Center for being warm hearted, loving and supportive to him and his family through his final days.
