Obituary Paul Brett Johnson, 64, partner of Tony Huston and son of Harriet and the late Paul Johnson, died on June 1, 2011, in Lexington, KY after a brief illness. In addition to Tony and his family, Paul is survived by his mother Harriet, his brother John M. Johnson and his sister Cheryl Mickey and their respective families. Paul was a renowned artist, author and illustrator and leaves a vast body of literary and artistic work that spans many genres. Paul was named a Kentucky Heritage Artist in recognition of his work depicting life in his native Eastern KY which drew from childhood experiences of growing up in Mousie. Among the many accolades bestowed upon Paul are two KY Bluegrass Awards, a California Young Readers Medal, recognition in School Library Journal, American Bookseller Bulletin, Smithsonian Magazine, The New York Public Library's "100," and the International Reading Association/Children's Book Council Children's Choices. He has been profiled in Children's Writers and Illustrators Market as well as Writers Digest. Funeral Information Please join us in celebrating his remarkable life at 2:00 PM, Sat, June 4, at Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing.
