June 13th, 1922 - December 3rd, 2013
Paul R. Jones Paul R. Jones, 91, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013 at Sacred Journey Hospice, McDonough, GA after a long illness. He was born in Wise, VA, lived in Kingsport most of his life and resided in Atlanta with his daughter, Carmen the last few years. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Mason Dixon Trucking Company in 1984 as a Traffic Manager after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, Southern Motor Carrier Rate Conference and was a former Vice-Chairman of the Tennessee Intrastate Rate Committee, Central Southern Motor Carrier Association. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as a Stake Missionary with his wife Gini in Atlanta and served as a full time missionary for the Family History Genealogical Library in Salt Lake City, UT. In the local church, he served as a High Priest in the Melchizedek Priesthood, Bishopric and Counselor in the Stake and as a Young Men's Stake President. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Gini" Miller Jones; parents, Emmitt W and Mary Alice Strange Jones; sisters, Dorothy Jones and Wanda McMurray; brothers, Donald Ray Jones and Otto Jones. Surviving are his daughter, Carmen Kay and husband, George of Atlanta, GA; son Ray Jones, Sr. and wife Un Joo of Denver. CO; Ray's children whom Gini and Paul raised as their own, Ray Jones, Jr., Paul Jones and Sarah Jones Bastian; other grandchildren, Deborah Jeffers, Rachel Jones, John Jones and Emily Jones; great-grandchildren , Kabri Jones, Mary Jones, Joseph Jones, William Jones, Victoria Jones, Mary Bastian, Hannah Bastian, Rachel Bastian Anastasia Jones and Alex Morris; sister, Bonnie Faye Bradley of Kingsport; sister in law, Willa Miller Doggett and husband, Lowry and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 100 Cannongate Rd., Kingsport, Saturday, December 7, 2013. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church with Brother David Fagerburg officiating. A military graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, conducted by American Legion Post 3/265. Carter-Trent Funeral Home 520 Watauga St., Kingsport is serving the family of Paul R. Jones.
