Paul Jay Piercey, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly at his home in Edmonds, WA on 4/17/2016. Paul leaves behind his wife, Colette Piercey, daughter Andrea (Brad) Bradshaw, mother Barbara Piercey, sister Barbie Brandt and brother Guy (Gwen) Piercey. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephew, cousins, aunts and uncles and a wide circle of devoted loving friends. The impact he made in this life deeply touches all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father James Piercey.Paul was born on April 28th 1955 in Everett Washington to Barbara (Martinis) and James Piercey. He resided in Everett WA then he moved with his family to North Bend Oregon. He graduated from North Bend HS in 1973. He attended college at Oregon State University and graduated 1977. He went on to teach accounting and coach football at Corvallis HS. Paul and Colette (Champagne) met while in junior high. This was just the beginning of a romance that was formally united in marriage on March 20, 1976 and continues to this day. The pride and joy of Paul and Colettes lives, Andrea, was born September 22 1988.Paul was an adventurer, an explorer, a teacher, and a mentor. He approached every endeavor with zest and passion. He left teaching in 1978 to travel on his sailboat in Mexico with Colette and his dog Armen. This fueled his deep and abiding love of the sea. He went on to fish commercially for a number of years eventually having a land job selling boats and permits for Dock Street Brokers. He had planned to retire June of this year. He travelled to Croatia in 1995 and fell in love with the familys island home on the island of Vis. He worked tirelessly to preserve the home and make it ssible for his numerous relatives and friends to continue to enjoy. He and Colette spent many summers in Komiza, Vis where they made friends who have become family to them. His retirement was to be spent largely at Awesome Town Ranch, the name for the acreage he and Colette purchased on Camano Island and where his beloved mules Pebbles and Bambam graze. His life had a way of segueing from one adventure to another; he was a fly fisherman, hunter, builder, hiker, sailor, mule-packer, animal lover; but most of all his joy was found in the delight of his wife and daughter.Paul was a man for all seasons, and not a season will go by he will not be truly missed by those who love and cherish him.The Milky Way at night, seen from the sea is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. (Paul Piercey)Paul, we will never again look at the Milky Way without thinking of you.A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 326 Admiral Way in Edmonds, Washington. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Hospital Boat San Rafael Foundation, a non-profit organization that operates out of Cali Colombiahref=https://www.youcaring.com/hospital-boat-san-rafael-foundation-558011 https://www.youcaring.com/hospital-boat-san-rafael-foundation-558011 .
