Paul E Talley

July 30th, 1932 - April 18th, 2024

Paul was born into a large family to parents John and Marie Talley. He grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota spending most of his time in the town of Lead. He met his future wife, Dorothy, in high school and they married in 1952. Paul was drafted into the army and served as a tank mechanic. After the army, Paul and Dorothy lived in Lead and raised a family of four kids. Paul worked for the Homestake gold mine as a hoist operator and then as a member of the mine safety team. He was a trained EMT, volunteer fireman, deputy sheriff and a member of the county search and rescue team.

In 1970, Paul moved his family to Lakewood, CO to start work as a federal mine and hoist safety inspector. This work required extensive travel across the country. He was a senior instructor to train and mentor other inspectors. He retired from this position in 1993.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Paul moved to Cheyenne, WY in 2004. He had a large garage which provided him room to collect and work on old cars. He was a member of the local antique car club.

In 2022, Paul moved to a retirement home in Arvada, CO to be closer to his children. He lived there until his passing.

Paul had a lifelong passion for mechanical things, especially automobiles. He was an adept mechanic who fixed and restored many vehicles and devices. He was quite the handyman and enjoyed remodeling and maintaining his homes. He spent many hours in his shop working on various projects. He was generous in applying his skills to help family and friends. He loved to fish, hunt, travel and camp. He was a hard worker, physically active, self reliant, dependable and patriotic.

Paul is survived by his brother Oren, sister Doris Ann, his children: JoAnn, Bruce, Terry and Kathy, their spouses, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Paul was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
