Paul Edwin Westmoreland

Paul Edwin Westmoreland, age 73, of Colfax, NC, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at his home. He was born July 20, 1949, the son of the late Virginia Stafford and Homer Westmoreland. Paul was a 1967 graduate of Northwest High School. Upon graduation, Paul proudly served his country as a United States Marine, achieving the rank of Corporal during the Vietnam War. Paul worked for Carolina Tractor Equipment Company for 30 years. After retiring, he was able to spend more time devoted to his love of car racing, especially at the drag strip. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Colfax Gun and Ammo. Paul attended Smith Grove Baptist church, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. His most favorite thing was spending time with his grandsons, never missing any of their sporting events. Paul is survived by his daughter, Gina Preston and husband, Jason; his grandchildren, Carson and Jaxon Preston; two brothers, Stephen and Lyndon Westmoreland; his nephews, Mike, Jeff, Keith, Kenneth, Allen, Lenny and David Westmoreland; and nieces, Debra Snipes and Robin Gauldin. He was married for 40 years to Carol Westmoreland. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Stafford and Homer Westmoreland; his brothers, Billy Westmoreland, David Westmoreland, and Barry Westmoreland; and his niece, Beverly Blackwood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Smith Grove Baptist Church in Colfax, NC, at 1:45PM. The family will receive friends from 12PM - 1:30PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military honors. Donations may be made to the VA or the VFW in Kernersville, NC.
