Paul Zimmer

ZIMMER, Paul Gregory 86, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018. He was born March 12, 1931 in Appleton, Wisconsin and moved to Tampa, Florida in 1983. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Because of his music ability he was put in the 4th Division Army Band and got to play for many dignitaries. Paul had his own business as a commercial artist in advertising in Menasha, Wisconsin and Tampa, Florida. One of the awesome things about Paul was that everything he did and excelled at, he taught himself. He used to smile at the fact that he was a color blind artist. Music was a big part of Paul his entire life. For the past 20 years Paul was known for making and performing on the Native American Love Flute. Again he taught himself to make and play the flute. His highlight was performing at Dollywood in Tennessee. Paul received great joy writing his own original musical compositions, which he then recorded on one of his seven cds. The philosophical side of Paul enjoyed spending time contemplating the origin and meaning of life. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, and playing tennis. Paul was a loving and thoughtful husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Edith Zimmer; sister, Rita; three brothers, Frances, Edward and Ellis/James, son, Bradley Hansen and two grandsons, Conner Hansen and Jacob Orkin. Paul is survived by his loving wife, of 41 years, Patricia Zimmer; two sons, Steve Zimmer, Mark Zimmer; seven daughters, Kristine Orkin, Dianne Bautch, Wendy Holwerda, Mary Nett, Michele Hansen, Kori Stein, and Jodi Gruss; two brothers, Fred Zimmer, Dan Zimmer; sister, Carol Zimmer Reid; fifteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
