Paulina F. Franz, 81, of Longmont, died December 4, 2011 at LongmontUnited Hospital.Paulina was born September 13, 1930 in Erie, Colorado to Lem andFlossie (Taylor) Cowan. She attended Frederick High School graduatingin 1948. She married John Thure in 1949. She later married Arthur Franzin 1970. She held numerous jobs throughout her career in California andColorado with the most recent at the Geology Department at theUniversity of Colorado as the department secretary where she retired in1987.In 1985, she earned the distinction of “fastest typist in BoulderCounty”. She was a past member of the Rocky Mountain High Chapter ofthe Society for Painters, the LUH Prestige club, and enjoyed her Red Hatgroups. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, going tobreakfast with friends, decorative painting, crossword puzzles, coffeeoutings with friends and family, trips to Blackhawk, Wii bowling,playing Rock Band, and was an avid fan of the local vocal group FACE.She is survived by her two sons, Patrick (Judy) Franz, Brook (Michelle)Franz, her daughters, Diane Thure-Griffith, Linda (Ron) Rodgers, Joan(Darrell) Laursen, and Nicki (Ron) Knopp. Her Grandchildren, AndreaRodgers, Chris (Liz) Rodgers, Glenn Laursen, Rachel Laursen, Kit(Annika) Franz, Holly (Bryce) Warren, and Fawn (Derek) Gold. Jason(Connie) Tipton, Jake Tipton, Jenny Tipton, Mandi (Matt) Swedberge andDrew Mueller. Her Great-Grandchildren, Tavian Rodgers and AddisonWarren. She is also survived by her brother, Keith (Nancy) Cowan, andher sisters, Gloria (Nevzat) Dogan, Thelma Cimino.and numerous nieces,nephews, and loving Friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, twobrothers, Kenneth and Edward Cowan, sisters, Dorothy Case, GeraldineShannon, and Dolores Collier.A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM at Carroll-Lewellen FuneralChapel on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Cremation has been entrusted toCarroll-Lewellen Funeral and Cremation Services.Please share thoughts and memories with the family atwww.carroll-lewellen.com.
