Pauline Virginia Caviness Smith
June 17th, 1922 - January 15th, 2016
Pauline Virginia Caviness Smith, 93, of Greensboro, North Carolina and Niceville, Florida passed peacefully into the welcoming arms of her maker on Friday, January 15, 2016. She was the daughter of Fannie Johnson Caviness and Lemiel Jennings Caviness both of Greensboro and was married for thirty-seven years to Garvey Nathaniel Smith also of Greensboro. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a brother Ernest Bean. Surviving is her son, Garvey Wayne Smith of Hickory, North Carolina: daughter, Connie Hall of Niceville, Florida, and a brother, Robert Caviness and sister-in law, Barbara Caviness of Greensboro. She was the proud grandmother of Dora Pauline Landsberg of Tallahassee, Florida, Nathaniel Carson Hall of Destin Florida, Carla Teneal Tyner of Durham, North Carolina, Amanda Blaine Teague of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Garvey Jonathan Smith of Statesville, North Carolina. She was a great grandmother to William and Emma Landsberg, and Cooper, Wesley, Molly Jane, and Anna Kate Hall. She resided for the past two years with her daugher and son-in-law, Gary Hall, in Niceville, Florida. During her lifetime she was employed for forty-four years with the Cone Mills Corporation in Greensboro. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her children and visiting with her grandchildren. She was blessed to have excellent care by the physicians and nurses at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Twin Cities Hospital Niceville, Sacred Heart of the Emerald Coast and the Fresenius Dialysis Centers in Miramar Beach and Bluewater Bay. Pauline was a member of Light House Baptist Church and appreciated their support and prayers during her illness. Lambeth Troxler Funeral Home in Greensboro, NC is in charge of funeral arrangements.
