Obituary Peggy Jean Purdue Shearer, 82, of Lexington, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011. She was born in Monticello, Kentucky on April 11, 1929, to the late Effie and John Purdue. She was a graduate of Monticello High School, attended Cumberland College, and was a homemaker. She married her high school sweetheart, Billy Frank Shearer, a career military man. She was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Pauline Humble. Peggy loved music, politics, gardening, Tareyton 100s, and eating candy. She was a great dancer and had a great smile. She was most proud of her children John (Virginia) Shearer, of Memphis Tennessee, Robin (David) Neal and Martin (Jill) Shearer, both of Lexington, Kentucky; and grandchildren Josh Shearer, Jeffrey (Christine) Shearer, Amanda and Sarah Neal, and Samantha and Evan Shearer. She was also survived by her sister, Ruth (Edward) Casada, of Louisville, Kentucky; along with many dear nieces and nephews. Funeral Information A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
