Percie Mae Muncy
January 15th, 1937 - May 8th, 2024
Born as a coal miners’ daughter in the Appalachian hills of Kentucky, Percie was the oldest of 5. She attended Hazard High School in Hazard, Kentucky where she met the love of her life, Robert Dexter. Percie married Dexter in her junior year of high school and graduated in 1957. Fate forced them to relocate to Puyallup, Washington in 1960. Her and Dexter bought their “fixer upper” home in Puyallup in 1961 where they raised 3 children and “fixed up” the rest of their lives. Percie worked as a bookkeeper and continued in that occupation until she retired. After retiring Percie and Dexter spent many winters in Arizona with her brother Bill and his wife Judy where the door was always open for visitors. Soon after great-grandchildren started coming Percie wanted to clip the snowbird wings and stay close to home. In the spring and summer, she loved to go to the farmers market on Saturday to buy flowers for her yard or patio and garage sale her way home. She kept busy with her ever growing family and loved them all very dearly. Family was important to Percie. The family included the whole family. The family photo album is filled with many fond memories of holidays, birthdays, daffodil parades, late night card games and times spent together with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. The Muncy family spent many weekends camping, fishing and hunting as well as the annual road trips to Kentucky. As time went on and the family grew, we spent weekends at Clear Lake and the family gatherings for Christmas, Easter and 4th of July. She is survived by her brother, William (Bill), her 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dexter, parents, her sister, Betty and brothers Jeff and Arnold.
