Peter Blades
May 6th, 1943 - June 19th, 2014
Peter David Blades passed away peacefully at home Thursday evening, June 19, 2014. Pete was born in Salem, Massachusetts on May 6th, 1943. He was preceded in death by both of his parents andhis incredible wife and best friend of 40 years, Sandy Blades. He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Betsy Blades Butler; two sons, John and Peter Blades Jr.; and only grandchild, Zane Michael Blades; his brother, Retired Colonel Jon Blades, Ph.D. and his sister, Susan Blades.Pete was a retired Naval Aviator who focused on projects around his farm and helping out others and spoiling his grandson. He was a man of principle, structure and discipline. He was exceptionally loyal and loveddeeply and unconditionally those who he called friend. Pete was diagnosed with lung cancer November 2012 and fought it each day forward. He was ready to move on and be with his wife in the next chapter of life. A memorial service will be held to honor him on Friday, June 27th, 2014 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach. Beckman Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach is in charge of the arrangements.
