Peter "Gary" Ferraro

Peter "Gary" Ferraro, 83, of Gloversville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 23 1933 in Canajoharie, NY, he was the son of the late Antony and Anna Perrone Ferraro. Gary worked for Argersingers Department Store in Gloversville for many years, was a District Manager with S&K Menswear and retired as a Manger with the Montgomery County Office for the Aging in Amsterdam. During his time at the Office for the Aging, Gary received numerous awards and recognition for his dedicated and loyal service to the organization. He loved to play golf and enjoyed spending time at the Fulton County YMCA and Fit Happens keeping up his fitness. Gary also had a passion for singing and tap dancing. He was a very active member with the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville, was a member of the Gloversville Housing Authority and the Elks Club. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years Dorothy Ferraro of Gloversville; sons Gary Ferraro of Gloversville and Glen Ferraro of Glen; daughter Lisa Whitt (Gary) of Baldwinsville, NY; brother Anthony Ferraro (Donna) of Gloversville; sisters Pam Ferraro of Milton, NY and Toni-Ann Ferraro of Key West, FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren Kassidy Bowering, Kalob Whitt, Bethanie Whitt and Gary Whitt. Gary is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his brothers Frank Ferraro, Stephen Ferraro and Arthur Cole and Sister Nancy Pisano. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 9-11 A.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville with Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Spring burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown will be held at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Gary's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
