"Belchertown- Peter J. Kowal, 96, of Tucker Lane passed away February 26 at Wingate at South Hadley. Born January 31, 1910 in Three Rivers, he was the son of the late Stanley and Sophie (Kubaska) Kowal. Peter has lived in Belchertown for the past 12 years, previously residing in Middletown, Conn. He was a small parts inspector for Pratt & Whitney for 25 years before his retirement in 1977. Peter was a former member of St. Kazimierz Society in Conn. and is a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and traveling, and was also a lifelong Red Sox fan. Peter is survived by his wife of 68 years, Agnes (Romanczyk), and three daughters, Carol Anselment, Joan Soltys, and Bonnie Sullivan. He also leaves 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Peter was the last of 9 children, all of whom predeceased him. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Bondsville. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church, P.O. Box 612, Belchertown, MA 01007"
