Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home - Gloversville
Philip S. Dermott
April 3rd, 1954 - April 3rd, 2020
Mr. Philip S. Dermott, age 66, of Gloversville, passed away on Friday April 3, 2020 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after a long illness. He was born April 3, 1954 in Gloversville, the son of Daniel and Myrtle Stearns Dermott. He proudly served his county in the US Navy and held many jobs including Electrical Construction, fiber optics, and was later employed as a Maintenance Mechanic by Target Distribution Center, of Amsterdam and more recently by Townsend Leather of Johnstown, a job he was very fond of. He was a fan of NASCAR, specifically #24 Jeff Gordon and enjoyed going for rides on his Harley Davidson with his wife Kathi and taking his pups in his 68 Ford Pickup to go to the dump. Phil was a person who loved life. He always was ready to tell you a joke or make you laugh even when things were tough. He will be missed so very much by everyone who knew him. When you marry later in life you marry for someone to witness the rest of your life and companionship. Phil loved his wife very much as she did him. Philip is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Dermott; his mother Myrtle Dermott; two sons, Jonathan VanSickle (Danielle Sanzone) and Scot VanSickle (Julie); two grandchildren, Annabel and Everett VanSickle; two brothers, Daniel Dermott, Jr. (Edna) and John Dermott (Barb); a sister Rosemary Miller (Bill); along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. He is also survived by his “girls” Bella and Pnut who he loved so very much. Phil was predeceased by his father Daniel Dermott, Sr. Keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services at this time. A memorial service and celebration of Phil’s life will take place in the future, at a time and place later to be determined. Cremation will take place at Park View Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A Brennan Humane Society: 437 Nine Mile Tree Rd. Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
