Philip Dwayne Overstreet
March 2nd, 1962 - December 15th, 2018
Philip “Phil” Dwayne Overstreet, 56 years old of Lexington, KY, transitioned from this life on December 15, 2018 with his wife at his bedside. Phil is the loving husband of Sherry Curry-Overstreet and the son of Walter Overstreet and the late Isabelle Mack-Overstreet. In addition to his wife and father, Phil is survived by three sons: Adrian R. Overstreet-Machen of San Antonio, TX, Desmond Franklin, and Aziah Philip Overstreet, both of Lexington, KY as well as one sister, Angela Overstreet and three brothers, Charles Overstreet, Todd Overstreet and Terrance Overstreet, each of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one niece, several nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Phil retired in 2013 from the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government following 27 years of dedicated service as a civil engineer. He was a veteran of the US Armed Forces, serving his country as an Army Paratrooper in various military operations. Phil was a man of many talents. He was an avid golfer who for the last nine years made annual trips to attend practice rounds of The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA. He also enjoyed fishing target shooting, flying his drone, supporting his Cincinnati Bengals, and spending time with and providing awesome Independence Day fireworks displays each year for his family. A service celebrating Phil’s life will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018 with visitation from 5-7 PM and the service from 7-8 PM at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville, KY. The Reverend Dr. Jodi Helbert PhD. will officiate the service. A quiet burial will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that contributions are made in honor of Philip Overstreet to the American Cancer Society.
