Philip M. Rockmaker born on January 17, 1934, in New York City, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024. He was the beloved son and only child of Emmanuel Rockmaker and Anna Capece Rockmaker. Phil was predeceased by his cherished wife, Sigrun Tryggvadottir Rockmaker, and is survived by his loving daughter, Anna Vala Rockmaker.

A long time resident of Washington, D.C., Phil dedicated his career to the Department of Transportation as a program manager and electrical engineer, where he made significant contributions until his retirement.

Phil's deep passion for jazz, fine wine, and engaging conversation was a source of joy and inspiration for all who knew him.  His refined palate and appreciation for exquisite wines often led to delightful discoveries and created countless cherished memories. Phil was a devoted husband, often assisting his wife in crafting gourmet meals for many dinner parties, where guests delighted in their warm hospitality.

Phil's love for jazz was evident in his extensive collection of vinyl records featuring legends like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Oscar Peterson Band. He spent countless hours curating and enjoying his collection , often sharing his favorite tracks with friends and family.

Phil fully embraced the cultural richness of Washington, D.C. , frequently visiting The Kennedy Center and the city's renowned art museums.

Phil’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of warmth, wisdom, and wit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
