A graveside service with military honors for Philip C. Steely, 89, will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Woodridge Memorial Park of Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends from 10am until the hour of the service Thursday at Woodridge Funeral Home, 138 Corley Mill Road Lexington, SC 29072. Mr. Steely, formerly of Reading, PA, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010. He was born October 2, 1920 to the late Philip and Ester Rollman Steely. Mr. Steely was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Central European Campaign and receiving the Victory Medal for his efforts. He was one of the last surviving members of his battalion. Following his military service, he worked many years with Rockwell International before his retirement. Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Denise Steely Branham (husband William G. Branham); granddaughter, Marcell L. Steely (husband Larry E. Judice); great-granddaughter, Elliana Q. Steely; great-grandson, Noah Shehata; sister, Marion Bernet (husband Paul Bernet); nieces, Linda Hausinger (husband Mike), Joyce Hoatson (husband Tim), and Debbie Gifford (husband Ralph). He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Merle Steely, and a brother, Kenneth Steely.
