Philip Stephen Ware, age 88, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022, in Pinellas Park, Florida. He was born to Dr. Stephen C. Ware and A. Jean Ware in Iowa City, Iowa on March 28, 1934. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1952, and the University of Iowa Law School in 1958. On September 2, 1956, he married Shirley J. Brown in Iowa City, Iowa. Phil was a long time resident of St. Petersburg, Florida and moved there in 1958 with his wife, Shirley. Locally, he practiced law and was employed by West Coast Title Company where he was a Vice President and Title Officer. He was an active member at Seminole United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Phil loved the Lord and served in many capacities at his church. Mr. Ware was also an Eagle Scout and a former Scout Master for the local troop 340. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard and the Florida National Guard. In 1994, he retired from the Army Reserve as a highly, decorated Lieutenant Colonel. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the trombone in various local bands. He also loved to read military history, enjoyed big band music and playing with his grandchildren. His loving wife of 46 years, Shirley J. Ware, predeceased him in 2003. Also predeceased is his brother, Lyle A. Ware, of Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by a sister, Charlotte A. Adams, and her husband, Richard of Myakka City, FL, a sister-in-law, Carole Ware, of Albuquerque, NM, a son, Thomas M. Ware, and his wife, Doris, of Rapid City, SD, a daughter, Janet M. Clark of Apopka, FL, a daughter, Ann W. Dreyer, and her husband, David of Jupiter, FL, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at Seminole United Methodist Church, Seminole, FL, on February 25, 2023 at 11AM.
