Phil Witt, "Mr. Wonderful," passed away on September 2nd at the age of 81. He was surrounded by Kay, his wife of 57 years, his son Greg (Holly), daughters Lisa (Chris), and Angie Chen (George). He will forever be Poppy to his grandkids, Lauren, Sammy, Henry and Jake, who loved him so much. His love for them was immense and he was truly interested in all they did, celebrating each milestone of their lives. Phil's family included a wide circle of friends, many life-long, who held him in high esteem. Phil was the life of the party- and there were many parties over the years. He was known as the commissioner for years in his multiple fantasy sports leagues. He and the old F.A.R.T.S. (Friday Afternoon Round Table Symposium) traveled to numerous Major baseball stadiums around the country and would meet each Friday for lunch at Canyon Oaks. Phil was a tennis enthusiast, an avid skier and hunter. He traveled the world with Kay and a wonderful group of friends experiencing fun adventures and creating many great memories. Phil had priorities, and family was number one. He loved to be around his family after he retired from the IRS. He would travel to visit his grandkids at the drop of a hat, and could not do enough for any family member. Phil was a man of his word. He was generous, loyal, humorous and patient. He leaves behind a great legacy: a life well-lived, a strong love for family, and a never ending devotion for his wife Kay. We are indebted to the loving staff at Country Village and the Butte Home Health and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Country Village (CountryVillageCare.com). A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 15 10:30am at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church, 566 E. Lassen Ave. in Chico.
