April 9th, 1948 - August 29th, 2008
Phillip Lee Markes, 60, of South Main Street, Gloversville passed away suddenly Friday, August 29, 2008 at his home. A lifelong area resident, he attended Amsterdam schools. Phillip loved music, dancing and roller skating. An avid card player, he enjoyed the game of solitaire and loved animals. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Markes; a brother, David Markes and four sisters, Betty Abraham, Margaret Knuth, Elaine Moribito and Shirley Raiano. Survivors include; his daughter, Brenda Tomlinson of Johnstown; one son, James A. Markes; a brother, Eugene Markes of Amsterdam; a sister Beatrice Harwood of Gansevoort; three grandchildren, Deana, Keith and Courtney; one great grandson, Nathan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of remembrance on Friday, September 5, 2008 from 3:00 to 5:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, where arrangements have been entrusted.
