It is with great sadness that the family of Phillip David McCartney announces his passing on December 25th, 2017 at age 75. Phillip will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Carol Wills McCartney; his children David (Barbara), Phillip Todd (Andrea),Eric, and Alicia (Greg Swain) and as "Poppie" by his granddaughters Allison, Meredith, and Victoria. Funeral services celebrating his life will be 11:00AM Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Chapel. Phillip was predeceased by his parents Phillip Page and Maysel Gandee McCartney; his brother Larry Paul McCartney; twin brother Colonel Richard Page McCartney and his sister Elaine Barker. Phil was born in Ripley, West Virginia and received degrees in Chemistry and Math from Morris Harvey College (now the University of Charleston). He worked in the North Carolina textile industry for many years and traveled extensively. Later, he managed a golf course in Ocala, Florida. Returning to North Carolina, he worked as a teachers' aide for Guilford County schools. He was a charter member of Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church, where he served on the building planning team. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses and large flowers. The family would like to thank the medical team at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, who provided excellent and compassionate care.
