Phillip “Phil” Shelton, 75, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Kate B, Reynolds Hospice Home. Phil was born in Mt. Airy to the late Woodrow and Nina Shelton. He honed his talents as an electrician during his time with Salem Electric in Winston-Salem; Regency Electric in Charlotte; NCF and Aneco Electric in Colfax, NC. Phil’s proudest time as an electrician was his three years on contract with KBR in Iraq as a civilian electrician 2004-2007. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Alice Nesbitt Shelton; children Deborah Leatherman of Woodleaf, NC, Toni Wyatt of Salisbury, NC, Phillis Watson of Dobson, NC, Phillip “Bobby” Shelton of Welcome, NC and Phillip “Phil” Shelton Jr. of Naples, FL; along with 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Respecting Phil’s wishes, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Phil’s memory, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
