Phyllis Jean Aragona

We vainly wrestle with the blind belief That aught we cherish Can ever quite pass out of utter grief And wholly perish – Robert Frost Watsonville, CA: Mrs. Phyllis Jean Aragona passed away of natural causes at her home on May 11, 2016. She was 99 years old. She passed in the presence of her loving family: her two sons, John and Robert Aragona, her two daughters, Regina Aragona and Pamela Fields, Pam's husband, Ron Fields, and her granddaughter, Chelsea Fields and Chelsea's fiancé, James Garcia. Phyllis was born and raised in New York; met and married Thomas Aragona on September 27, 1942; moved to Atlantic Beach, Long Island and raised five children, three boys and twin girls. Thomas passed away at the age of 60. Subsequently, Phyllis moved to Hollywood, Florida. Finally, nine years ago she moved to Watsonville, CA to live the remainder of her life under the loving care of her daughter, Regina, and her son, Robert. While in Watsonville she joined a number of senior groups that congregated on a regular basis to play her beloved past time, poker. Her passing has left us without the queen of hearts. Phyllis leaves behind four of her five children, John (and his wife Maryann), Robert, Regina and Pamela (and her husband Ronald). The fifth child, Richard, passed away a little over ten years ago. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Thomas Aragona (and his wife Melissa) and Robert Aragona (John and Maryann's sons); Chelsea Fields (and her fiancé James Garcia), and Alexander Fields (Pamela and Ronald's daughter and son). Phyllis also became a great grandmother recently with the birth of Timothy Aragona (Thomas and Melissa's son). In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Phyllis' honor to "Hospice of Santa Cruz" – the organization that provided loving care and support to Phyllis and her family to enable her to pass peacefully in the comforts of her own home.
