Phyllis Maylen Gras, 72, of Amsterdam, New York, died peacefully on July 27, 2021 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Phyllis was born on August 24, 1948 to the late Irving and Maylen (St. Pierre) Osterhout. She was a 1966 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She worked for General Electric, where she met her husband Donald who she married on September 16th, 1977. She was a stay at home Mom for many years before returning to work for Amsterdam Printing and Litho until she retired. Phyllis was very active in the PTA at Barkley Elementary School as well as the Town of Florida Youth Commission. She and her husband could also be found at any of the local car shows cruising up in one of their classic cars. She truly had a vibrant personality. She was quick to flash a smile and very generous with her hugs. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Donald C. Gras; her daughter Alicia M. Gras; her granddaughters, Emma M. Gras and Justice C. Gras; as well as by her sisters, Bridget A. Guarino and Christine A. Battaglino. Aside from her parents, Irving and Maylen, Phyllis is preceded in passing by her son, Donald C. Gras III, grandson Donald C Gras IV, and sister, Kathleen R. Knorowski. The Gras family would like to thank all the staff at St. Mary’s and Ellis hospitals for all they did caring for her in her final days. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Hunter's Hope Foundation at http://huntershope.org
