Phyllis L. Harrison

Phyllis Lucille Harrison passed away January 16, 2011 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley. She was born July 31, 1910 in Davenport, NE to Milton B. and Margaret Ellen (Surber) Miller. Phyllis graduated from Davenport High School. She attended Nebraska State Normal College in Chadron, NE graduating in 1933 after earning her teaching certificate. In the summer of 1933, she and her sister, Louise, and girlfriend went to the Chicago World’s Fair. The following year she married Charles Walker Harrison. She enjoyed gardening and yard work, especially taking care of her roses. Phyllis loved time spent with her family and friends, traveling, reading, playing the piano and cooking. She worked part time at the Cable Music store in Greeley. In later years she enjoyed walking in her neighborhood and to Toddy’s to shop and have a pastry and coffee. Phyllis was a member of the Church of Christ in Davenport and the First Christian Church in Greeley. She is survived by her son, David (Alison) Harrison of Round Rock, TX; daughter, Jean (Richard) Scoular of Firestone, CO; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Chase, Kimberly Harrison, Lisa (Steve) Pedersen, Brian (Leleng) Mosier; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter, Lou Ann Mosier; parents; sisters, Ethel, Iola and Louise; brothers, Fay, Ben, Lester, and Oscar. Honoring her request, private family services will be held.
