"This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it!" This is what our precious Pinckney would say. On June 4th, our Lord and Savior was ready for Pinckney. Born April 28, 1964, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Robert Ellison Rogers and the late Charlotte Nadeen Fishburne. He was a kind, gentle man, always happy, always willing to lend a helping hand. His heart was pure. He loved life. Pinckney was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend. He spent many years in the produce business. However, with the illness he suffered, he retired early. Pinckney filled his days taking care of his family and raising his son. He was a devoted member of Alma First Church of the Nazarene where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and trustee of the church. He also served on the Visitation Team and Pastoral Prayer Team. He served under Pastor Lang Ingram. Pastor Ingram said of him, "Pinckney was a true blessing. He would do anything the church needed to have done." Pinckney hasn't left us, for he lives. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Evans Rogers of Alma, GA; son, Preston Deen Rogers of the home; step-son, Evan Carter of the home; sister, Ellison Fishburne Rogers of Lexington; step-mother, Lorraine Shaker Rogers of Irmo; aunt, Carolyn R. Stacey (Bill) of Lexington; uncle, Joseph S. Rogers of Texas; nephews, Roy R. Roder, Robert D. Price; brother of the heart, Mark Price, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Nadeen Fishburne; Joseph S. and Lorena K. Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alma First Church of the Nazarene, 202 W. 20th St, Alma, GA 31510.
