Piper Byers Preston
June 1st, 1954 - April 28th, 2023
Piper Byers Preston Jr passed away on April 28, 2023, at the age of 68. Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, on June 1st, 1954, to Piper Byers Preston Sr and Mary Preston (Matthews) Piper attended New Castle Senior high school in New Castle, PA. In 1971, Piper and his family moved from New Castle, PA, to Tucson Az where he graduated from Rincon high school in 1972. Piper completed Pima Community College’s HVAC program, then began his 45-year career in the HVAC industry. Piper worked at Achilles Air Condition for 29 years, where he worked with some of his closest friends. Pipers’ true passions were fishing, golfing, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and reading, which he did every free moment, finishing a novel every few days. From a young age, Piper enjoyed being on the water. He was an excellent water skier and boat driver in his younger days. Piper had a lifetime love of fishing. During childhood, he learned to fish for flounder in Delaware and muskie in Pennsylvania. As an adult, he fell in love fishing for rainbow trout in northern Arizona and Arkansas. Beneath a rough exterior, Piper had a heart of gold, keen intellect and generous spirit. He loved to travel to new places, would talk to anyone and easily make new friends. Piper will be greatly missed by his surviving family: Sons and their wives Paul and Lynea Preston and Bryan and Miranda Preston, and his grandchildren, Bennett Preston, Blake Preston, Sydney Preston, and Elias Preston, and his Girlfriend of 32 years Rosie Rosell.
