On Thursday, January 28, 2021, Priscilla (Carney) Jones, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the age of 73. Priscilla was born February 19, 1947 in New London, CT to Catherine Carney. She graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in New London in 1965. She briefly worked at an oral surgeons office before starting work at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. On November 18, 1967 she married Jensen, and they settled in Uncasville, CT. On July 6, 1970 Priscilla gave birth to Kimberly Ann. With the transfer of her husband in 1977 she moved to Merritt Island, FL. Priscilla became a Nationwide Insurance Agent in Cocoa Beach and Palm Bay, FL. Her career as an Agent spanned 25 years until her retirement in 2007. Priscilla was predeceased by mother Catherine, and brother Eugene. Priscilla is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jensen, her daughter Kimberly, grandson Zachary, sister-in-law Eileen Carney of Viera, brotherin-law and sister-in-law Robin and Rosalie Jones of Bradenton, niece and nephews Robin Mason and son Quinten of Parrish, Michael and Deanne Carney and son Ryan of Oviedo, Gary and Debbie Carney and son Jake of Charlestown, RI, cousins John and Cindy Carney of Tampa, Michelle Helvey of Ft. Walton Beach and Sean Carney of Tampa. Priscilla always put the needs of her family ahead of her own. Relocating to Florida from Connecticut was, initially, a very difficult choice but with her business savvy and personality she landed on a career that would last the next 25 years. Raising Kim was her greatest joy. Her proudest moment was when Kim followed in her footsteps and became a Nationwide agent. When illness forced an early retirement she was happy that Kim could merge the two agencies so that her clients, many of whom became lifelong friends, would be able to maintain the family connection. In 2006 Priscilla was presented with her greatest blessing, Zachary. She became the stereotypical dotting grandmother. She was happiest when traveling with Zachary on cruises, theme parks and sightseeing the USA. Priscilla’s favorite pastime was traveling. She was able to fulfill her childhood dream of exploring the larger world. She especially loved dining at local restaurants and enjoying the company of her family and close friends. The annual trip to Connecticut was especially enjoyable allowing Pris and her childhood friends Ann and Jolynn to revisit their favorite hangouts. She was fortunate that slowly over the years family and friends migrated to Florida in retirement. Ironically, her beloved brother Gene and sister-in-law Eileen moved in right next door. The annual trip to spring training for the Yankee and Red Sox game hosted by cousins John and Cindy always renewed the family rivalry. The cornerstone of our family is gone but she will reside in our hearts and memories forever. Rest in peace sweetheart remember, “I love you more”. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be sent to the The Brevard County Zoo or plant a tree in remembrance of Priscilla
