Procopio Jake Roybal
December 14th, 1931 - December 14th, 2023
Procopio Roybal was born in Pojoaque, New Mexico, which is north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He attended elementary school in Pojoaque and high school in Santa Fe. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 for four years and was assigned to the USS Iowa (BB-61) battleship during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Procopio returned to Santa Fe, New Mexico to marry Orlinda Alarid. They married in 1956 and lived in Pojoaque, New Mexico. Procopio learned and worked in the electrician trade for a few years. He electrically wired the home built in Pojoaque. Procopio worked for the New Mexico Highway Department for 29 years, retired in 1988, and shortly after moved to Monument, Colorado. Procopio worked at Kohl’s Department Store in Monument, Colorado for 14 years as a sales associate and made many friends. In his free time, Procopio liked to read various information like the Reader’s Digest, local newspapers and western novels, and watch western shows on television. He always enjoyed being outside doing yard work. Procopio is survived by his wife, Orlinda Roybal; son, Arthur Roybal; daughter, Carmela Roybal; and granddaughter, Katarina Lucardie, and brother, Remy Roybal. Procopio is preceded in death by his mother Tonita Roybal, father Procopio H. Roybal, brothers Pablo, Stan, I M, and Benigno Roybal, sisters Ruth, Lydia, Mary. Funeral mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church in Monument, Colorado on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 10:00AM 55 Jefferson St. Monument, CO 80132. Interment will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery following the funeral mass at 12:00PM 10545 Drennan Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
