All-States Cremation - Denver
Purdy Arthur Outhouse
May 9th, 1941 - September 8th, 2021
Purdy (Mike/Purd) Arthur Outhouse, a resident of Firestone, Colorado, died peacefully on September 8, 2021, after a long illness and a life well-lived. He was 80 years old. Purdy was born on May 9, 1941, in Mt. Kisco, NY, to the late Arthur Purdy and Ada Outhouse. He was a graduate of North Salem High School, where he was proudly voted the class clown and was a stellar athlete. Purdy spent much of his early life working at Outhouse Orchards, a family business in Croton Falls, NY. He then resided in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he became a devoted father, coach, business-owner, beekeeper and friend to all. It is there that Purdy married the love of his life, Carol (Valentine) Outhouse, in 1983. Together they raised their family and eventually retired to Colorado to be closer to the family that they loved so dearly. Purdy truly knew how to light up a room and was quick to get a laugh. He always enjoyed telling and hearing a good story at the kitchen table. With a childhood surrounded by farm-fresh ingredients, he relished in a love of cooking, gardening, and savoring delicious food, both at home in his kitchen for people he loved or sharing a table with his wife at one of their favorite restaurants. Purdy is not only survived by his loving wife, Carol, but also by his son, David Outhouse; his daughter, Jennifer Outhouse; his stepdaughter, Susan DeLay, and her husband, Saul Halfon; his stepson, Stephen DeLay, and his wife Christiane; and his stepdaughter, Kay Bloom, and her husband, Chris. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, Sasha, Liam, Sophia, Tessa, and Matthew, and his siblings, Janice Finlay and Wayne Outhouse. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Hermsen and his brother, Drew Outhouse. A memorial will be held for friends and family at a later time.
