Belchertown-Quincy Ferguson, 85, passed away unexpectedly at his home holding his son's hand on April 12, 2020. Born January 18, 1935 in Wausau, FL, he was the son of William Henry Ferguson and Nola B. (Riley) Carter. For 21 years, "Fergie" proudly served his country in the US Air Force as a weapons mechanic, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant. In 1977, he retired and went on to work for the Belchertown DPW and then at Westover Air Force Base where he ran the DRMO. He continued to work at Westover part time for the roads and grounds department. Fergie loved fishing along with the craft of building fishing rods. For many years, he enjoyed deep sea fishing. Then later appreciated the peace and calm in a smaller boat at Quabbin Reservoir. Fergie also took pleasure in coin collecting but his greatest passion was being involved in his family's life. Watching his grandsons play sports and never missing a baseball game truly exemplified the close relationship he had with his family. In 2009, Fergie was predeceased by his dear wife, Joyce E. (Chevalier) and will be dearly missed by his loving son, Michael and his wife Jenny, and their two sons Evan Stanley and Cooper Quincy. Services will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery with military honors, where Fergie will be laid to rest with his wife, Joyce. Kindly meet directly at the cemetery. Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Donations may be made in his honor to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
