Rachel "Rachel Bat Esther" Perez

Rachel Perez, age 83, a six year resident of Las Vegas, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Rachel was born February 15, 1928 in Tangiers Morocco to the late Jacob and the late Esther (Benjo) Benquessus. Rachel's mother died at an early age and Rachel was placed in a Christian orphanage for 10 years. Despite the religious influence, she never forgot her Jewish roots. After meeting her husband, Emil, in Rabat, Morocco they moved near Montreal to raise their family. She was an incredible mother and wife, caring for her children and husband above all else. She is fondly remembered for her wonderful cooking and selfless ways. Rachel also worked as a seamstress for the Playboy Club, sewing costumes for the bunnies. She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom. Rachel is survived by her husband of 56 years, Emil Perez; Son David Perez & Wife Karen of California & daughter Anna Perez-Wizel & Husband Leonel of New York 2 grandchildren Ryan & Meghan & 2 Great Grand Children Hailie & Carter. A funeral service was held at Temple Beth Sholom on August 25 with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions in Rachel's memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
