May 18th, 1940 - April 24th, 2018
Rafael A. Calabria, M.D., 77, of Land O' Lakes, FL (formerly of Kings Mountain, NC), passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born in Colón, Panama, and raised in Panama and Puerto Rico. Dr. Calabria graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1964 and went on to specialize in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University. He served as a physician in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. Upon moving to Kings Mountain, he established practices in Gastonia and Shelby. Dr. Calabria enjoyed cooking, growing orchids, traveling, and architecture. He retired to Florida last year to be close to family. He is survived by his brother, José L.
