Ralph Wesley Carter
August 7th, 1937 - April 11th, 2017
Kingsport - Ralph W. Carter, 79 of Mount Carmel, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Wexford House in Kingsport. He was born in Stanleytown, VA on August 7, 1937 and resided in Rye Cove, VA for most of his life where he attended Stanleytown Community Church. Ralph graduated from Rye Cove Memorial High School in 1954. He worked at AFG Industries for over 29 years and then began a career in automobile sales that lasted for several years until his retirement in 2012. He was active in the community serving as a charter member of the Cove Creek Ruritan. He served terms on the Scott County School Board as well as the Scott County Board of Supervisors. He had resided in Mount Carmel, TN for the past several years and attended Ridgeview Baptist Church. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Martha Carter and brother, Ray Carter. He is survived by his sons; Roger Carter and wife Allison, Terry Carter and wife Regenia, and Tracy Carter, all of Mount Carmel. He had eight granddaughters whom he adored: Rachel Vermillion and husband Logan, Andrea Carter, Ashley Carter, Lauren Carter, Taylor Carter, Sarah Carter, Holly Carter, and Ryan Carter all of Mount Carmel. He is also survived by a sister, Marlene Kindle and husband Frank of Kingsport, brothers; Jim Carter and wife Marie, and Danny Carter and wife Helen, all of Mount Carmel, along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, April 14 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Funeral services will follow at 7pm in the funeral home with Pastor Jon Rogers and Rev. Larry Stallard officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1pm Saturday, April 15 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express special thanks to the professional staff at Wexford House and Holston Manor for their kind and compassionate care. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Carter family.
