Ralph Durie Hering, Jr.
April 24th, 1948 - May 18th, 2021
Ralph Durie Hering Jr, 73, husband of Valerie Hering, passed away on May 18, 2021. He was born in Hackensack, New Jersey and was raised in Park Ridge, New Jersey. He received his degree in mechanical engineering and worked for Lexel Imaging Systems for over 40 years before retiring in 2013. Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Sr. and Helen, and his sister, Janet. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, his son, Garrett and wife, Mandi of Tucson, AZ, 3 children from marriage, son, Mark Wielgus of Eugene, OR, son, Michael Wielgus and wife Kim of Nicholasville, KY, and daughter, Melissa with husband Brandon of Lexington, KY. He was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren, Jacob (19), Emma (18), Garrett Jr (16), Chloe (16), Blake (13), Lennon (11), Hannah (10), and Paisley (3). Nothing brought him greater joy than being PopPop. You could always find him cheering on his grandchildren at their various activities, whether it was baseball, dance, archery, etc. He spent several years coaching his grandchildren at South Lexington Baseball. When he wasn’t cheering on his grandchildren, he enjoyed spending time with them fishing at the local lakes. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at the Clark Legacy Center in Nicholasville, Kentucky from 5:00-7:00pm. Military honors will be presented at 5:00pm.
