Ralph O. Knight

March 25th, 2013

Ralph Orval “Poppy” Knight was born on March 8, 1941 to Orval Ray and Devona Abbott Knight, which was his mother’s birthday as well. Ralph passed away at his home on March 25, 2013 with family at his bedside, after a long battle with heart disease. Ralph was born in Overton, Nevada, the youngest of 5 children. The family moved to Homedale when he was in the third grade and attended Homedale schools. Ralph served an LDS mission 1960-1962, after returning to the family farm in Homedale on Mule Springs. He married Patricia Ruth Richardson on December 11, 1962 and have been married 50 years this past year. Ralph worked various jobs from law enforcement in Homedale and surrounding area, to Watermaster for South Board of Control, and then heavy equipment operator in Battle Mtn. Nevada, for Echo Bay Mines at the time of his retirement. Ralph loved the outdoors, from farming and dairy cows, to riding horses and hunting in the Owyhee Mountains. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and one great grandchild. Ralph will be missed by all who knew him, as he never knew a stranger. He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Julie (Gary) Corbett and Rachel (Richard) Bannon. Son Wallace (Melissa) Knight, brother Ray (Vanae) Knight, sisters Alice (Clark) Levanger, Mona (Doug) Simmons and Solinda (Greg) Christofferson. Also ten grandchildren, great granddaughter and numerous nephews and nieces. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son Wayne Edward Knight, May 30, 1986. Ralph’s services will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Homedale. Interment will follow at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery. Service Information

Joyce (Blackman) Mickelson

You may not remember me but my family grew up in Homedale. I had children in school with yours (Carson, Cami & Wesley Blackman) and I worked at City Hall and for attorney Dick Eismann for many years. Ralph was always such a happy outgoing person who everyone enjoyed being around. My brother, George Houston Call thought a great deal of Ralph. Prayers for your family. Joyce
