Ralph Michael Rohr
November 17th, 1929 - June 29th, 2017
Ralph Rohr Jr., 87, passed away on Thursday, June 29 at Meridian Park hospital. At the time of his death, Ralph was surrounded by his family, with his wife of 68 years, Corlie, holding his hand. One of six children, Ralph was born in Dickinson, ND to Ralph (Sr) and Iva Rohr, and lived most of his early life on a farm. An outgoing man with a gypsy heart and a love of travelling, he lived many places and made many friends throughout his life’s journey as he lived in North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. While Ralph had many occupations - farmer, TV repair shop owner, grocery store manager, auto & mobile home dealership owner and salesman - he had two passions: music and cars. Whether it was owning a TransAm race team, attending quarter mile dirt track races, or restoring his baby blue Rambler, Ralph always had his hand in something related to cars. Ralph’s love for music began when he was a child in his family’s band. He could play the saxophone and guitar, but he will always be remembered as an accomplished accordion player. Ralph was almost always in a band, most notably the Silver Kings and Polka Kings. He had a music Jam session every Tuesday, until the time of his death, which brought him much happiness. Ralph’s greatest love of all was his wife, Corlie. The night they met, Ralph was playing the accordion on a local radio broadcast. Ralph’s cousin introduced him to the cute candy-striper after she completed her shift at the hospital. They married a few short months later in the historic blizzard of ’49, and the rest, as they say, is history. Survivors include his wife, Corlie (Leach) Rohr; daughter, Jackie Dahlquist and her husband, Ron, of New Underwood, SD; Joe Rohr and his wife, Kathy, of Casper, WY; Mark Rohr and his wife, Mary, of Washougal, WA, and Michelle Vondenkamp and her husband, Jim, of Beaverton, OR. Five grandchildren: Tom Rohr and wife, Renee, of Windsor, CO; Heather Gray of Casper, WY; Shane Dahlquist of Rapid City, SD; Jack Vondenkamp and Claire Vondenkamp of Beaverton, OR. Three great grandchildren: Shad Dahlquist, Taylor Rohr, and Madisen Rohr; and one great-great grandson, Hudson Dahlquist; and one brother: Dale Rohr (Roosevelt, UT); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held August 5th at 2 pm in the King City Clubhouse.
