"Ralph E. Smith, 59, of Wilbraham Rd., passed away on February 9, 2008. Born October 27, 1948 in Ware, MA, he was the son of the late Ralph S. and Marjorie (Patrick) Smith. After graduating from Monson High School in 1967, he served his country in the US Coast Guard. Ralph had a passion for cooking and worked for 20 years as a chef at the Public House restaurant in Sturbridge and currently for Monson Developmental Center. He was an avid seller and buyer of antiques, enjoyed going to the beach and traveling the country side to Maine and Vermont. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Jennifer Stahelski and her husband Brant and his two beloved grandchildren which he cherished spending time with Madison and Brady and a son Chris Smith of CA. He also leaves two brothers Donald Smith of VT and James Smith of Springfield and his former wife Sharon Osborne of Sturbridge. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Nancy Smith in 2001. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 4072 Pittsfield, MA 01202. "
