Ramon Arroyos Flores
March 26th, 1940 - July 4th, 2014
Ramon (Ray) Arroyos Flores, 74, a 50 plus year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014. Dad was born March 26, 1940 in Ysleta, TX to the late Antonio Magallanes Flores and the late Aurora (Arroyos) Flores. Dad was a skilled craftsman and problem solver and could design and make virtually anything he set his mind to. He worked as a truck driver, before being paralyzed in a motorcycle accident in 1984, after which he medically retired. But this did not stop him - He continued to hunt, fish, camp, and even ride a three wheeled motorcycle (which he personally designed and assembled) for as long as he was physically able. He was an artist and began crafting leather after his accident, becoming a grand champion at the state fair. Even in his seventies it was just like Dad to completely refurbish and then sell a classic Mustang automobile, with periodic assistance from his beloved son Paul. Dad never stopped moving, and never stopped smiling even during the hard times, which were many. He was a fighter and a lover of life. When he did stop to rest he was most commonly found reading his Bible or resting for his next bout of heroics - no TV thank you very much. Dad was a devoted member of the Teamsters Union, Brothers of the Third Wheel, the Leather Guild and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his sons Gabriel (Patrice) Flores of Camarillo, CA, Eddie (Maria) Ray Flores of Santa Ana, CA, and Paul (LaFonda) Silviano Flores of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Jessica Marie, Alexandra Mercedes, Joshua and Thomas Edward; great grandchildren Natalie, Caleb and Cade; and siblings Lupe Rosales, Jose Flores, Michael (Diane) Flores. A funeral service will be held 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147, followed by burial at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, Las Vegas. Dad is going out like he always said he would - with his cowboy boots on! We love you Dad - forever in our hearts, always in our memories and with many prayers to guide your way. .
