Ramona V Geery

Ramona V. Geery - loving wife, mother, and grandmother - passed away on December 15, 2023, at age 82. Ramona was born at home on September 30, 1941, in Macon County, Missouri. She began high school in Tracy, Iowa, but her father’s railroad job took the family to Bloomfield, Iowa where she graduated. On November 25, 1961, she married Clayton Geery of Harvey, Iowa and raised two boys, Wayne and Brian. She enjoyed a career at the University of Missouri in Columbia, first in the Agricultural and Applied Economics department and finally as a secretary in the chancellor’s office. Ramona was well known for her homemade whole-wheat bread. She faithfully attended the Seventhday Adventist Church her whole life where she played piano for children and adult services. She also enjoyed teaching in the children’s department most of her adult life. Her family has many fond memories of playing games with her in the evenings, celebrating an abundance of laughter at family gatherings, and enjoying delicious meals together. The story was often recounted of her high school typing teacher coming to stand behind her to make sure she was actually typing real words, then commenting that he had never seen someone type that fast. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Jessie Snyder, her husband Clayton, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by one brother, her sons Wayne (Valerie) and Brian (Tricia), and grandchildren Bradley, Samuel, Dustin, Amanda, and Amelia. She will be buried beside her husband in Eureka Cemetery in Harvey, Iowa in Spring 2024. A memorial service will be held there at that time.
