Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Randall Neal Beukelman
September 15th, 1950 - February 11th, 2011
On the beautiful afternoon of Friday, February 11th, Randy Beukelman, 60, of Oakland, CA., passed from this life to the next. Randy died suddenly from natural causes just moments after an exhilarating, fast, and lengthy ride on his roller blades on newly paved Hwy 78 near Givens Hot Springs in Owyhee County. The irony of his passing hallmarks his entire life and it is not lost on those who knew him. He went in such a peaceful and satisfying way, that it leaves those behind with a smile-producing awe. Yet it leaves us with gut-wrenching sorrow at the same time because he'll be greatly missed. Randy had just arrived in Idaho to help care for his ailing father, yet it was Randy who went first. Randy was a brilliant star with great depth and wisdom. Yet he never felt that he quite met the expectations of our society. But he didn't mind, as his heart was turned toward those who hurt and suffered, and those who'd let him be himself. He loved to make people think, wonder, and laugh. His disarming and accepting nature put others at ease. His quick wit and sharp mind engaged many in a type of mental-sparring that could leave one exhausted, yet energized. Randy was happiest when outdoors. He spent many years cycling the country, sleeping under the stars. As a young man he became passionate about Frisbee. Then in the 1980's he landed his favorite job. He worked as a bicycle messenger in downtown San Francisco for several years until he was hit by a taxi and suffered serious injuries. Shortly after that he and Sharon married and spent their honeymoon bicycling around Europe for 9 months until his bike was stolen in Morocco. Nothing would stop Randy from seeking his next adventure and a healthy physical challenge, as evidenced by his last moments on earth. Randy was born on September 15, 1950 in Nampa. He was raised there and graduated from Nampa High. He attended NNC for a short time, and then got his RN licensure from BSU several years later. Randy leaves behind his life-partner, Sharon, who held him as he took his last breath, mother Muriel, father Del, brothers Gregg, Mark, Craig, sister Cecie, and his beloved dogs, Tilde, and Binki. He also leaves behind numerous friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Feb. 19th at Givens Hot Spring (11309 Hwy 78) near Marsing, ID. Randy's online guestbook is available at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com. Service Information
