Randy Lee Engle

Randy Lee Engle was peacefully called home Sunday, November 12th , 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Randy was born April 9 th , 1954 to Leonard and Bonnie Engle in Caldwell, Idaho where he joined his older brothers Ricc and Jim. Throughout his childhood he lived with his family in numerous places throughout Idaho and Oregon. While living in Portland, OR their family grew again with the addition of his little sister Roxann. The family later settled in Homedale on the Johnstone Farm. Here Randy participated in 4-H and football while attending school. Some of Randy’s favorite things to do were spending time with his older brother Jim, helping Grandad Engle on his farm, and helping his dad on the Johnstone Farm where they lived. Randy was a very active kid and loved playing jokes and telling stories just like his Grandad Engle. Following high school Randy enlisted in the U.S Military where he longed to serve his country. Due to medical issues he received a medical discharge and returned to the Marsing, ID area. Randy married Marilyn Bryne on September 16, 1978, in Marsing, ID. During their marriage they welcomed three beautiful daughters, Cassie, Samantha, and Ashley. Randy and Marilyn later divorced. In 1986, Randy met Sharon and they were married in Winnemucca, NV on July 26th , 1986. Randy and Sharon went on to create a loving blended family and had one child together, Amanda, born November 7 th , 1987. Randy had many career pursuits including his work at the City of Caldwell, SSI Foods, and 23 years with McAlvain Companies. His many dedicated years at McAlvain Companies allowed him the opportunity to travel and work on many big projects around the state. He loved pointing out all of the projects he got to contribute to. During his time there he made many long lasting friendships. From a young age Randy enjoyed anything that gave him an excuse to be in the mountains. His Grandad Engle introduced him to the Lick Creek area outside of Council, ID. He continued the tradition by spending all his free time hunting, fishing, camping, and cutting firewood in his favorite parts of Idaho. He shared these hobbies with his many friends, kids, and grandkids. Throughout his life anyone who knew him knew that if it was a weekend or hunting season he could be found camped on Lick Creek. He was such a prominent fixture there he earned the nickname ‘The Mayor’. He was also a huge fan and avid collector of any and all things John Wayne. When his grandkids went camping with him they knew that if they were going to get to watch a movie on the old tv it was going to be a John Wayne movie or Jerimiah Johnson. His family loved helping him add to his memorabilia collection that included anything from movie posters to pocket knives to toilet paper with John Wayne’s face on it. Along with his hobbies, Randy loved watching his grandchildren play sports and supporting them throughout all their activities. The past 2 years he and Sharon could be found in their living room watching the grandkid’s High School Sports that were being streamed on TV. Randy will always be remembered as a teller of tall tales. His elaborate stories (whether made up or real) will be missed by many. These are wonderful memories that his friends and family will all treasure and keep close in their hearts. Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bonnie Engle, brother Ricc Engle, son-in-law Anthony Ineck, and grandson Bryce Reynolds. He is survived by his wife Sharon, brother Jim Engle, sister Roxann (Rob) Malmberg, children Cassie Johnson, Samantha Engle, Ashley Villanueva, Amanda (JT) Corta, Shawna Ineck (Scott Davis), Brian (Holly) Reynolds, Tanya (Ryan) Corta, Brenda (Nick) Plascencia. He leaves behind a legacy of 25 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery on Saturday December 16th, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon at the Homedale Basque Center (333 S Main St, Homedale, ID 83628). The family invites you to come and share your favorite stories and memories of Randy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Marsing Booster Club, a Athletics organization Randy loved to support.
