Biography Kernersville-Randy Lee Thompson, 73, went home to be with the Lord April 8, 2014. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Saturday April 12, 2014 at Union Cross Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Pastor Mark Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. A native of Pittsylvania County, Virginia, Randy was the son of the late Mattie Clare McGregor and Wesley Clifton Thompson. He started his career with the former McLean Trucking Company and retired from Roadway Trucking. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years Sharon S. Thompson of the home; Daddy's girls Angela Dunn of Chesterfield, VA, and Tracy Ward and Dean of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Tiffany Lopez and Rudy, Jessie Dunn, Dylan Ward, Trevor Ward, and Zoe Ward; great-grandchildren Gwen Wahl, Serenity Lopez, and Donovan Lopez; brother Bobby Thompson and Darlene of Virginia Beach, VA. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 5-8pm at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
