Raphael "Ray" Toner

Toner, Raphael 'Ray', 95, 08/25/1915 - 10/03/2010 Raphael was born in Yoncalla and graduated from Yoncalla High School in 1933. He earned a teaching certificate at Oregon State College (now University) and taught many years in Lakeview and Beaverton. Ray will be remembered as a very special teacher to the many students he taught. He continued to take courses at OSU, completing his Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy. Ray married Irene in 1941 and they shared 64 years together. He loved to farm and enjoyed his family. Ray is survived by his children, Lorna Saylor, Linda Toner, and Robert Toner; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at 100 S.W. 195th Ave., Beaverton. Family and friends are invited to attend. Donations to the Oregon Heart Association preferred in lieu of flowers.
