Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services - North Charleston
Raymond Carl Andrasy
December 3rd, 1931 - March 2nd, 2022
Raymond (Ray) Andrasy, 90, of North Charleston, SC passed away peacefully on the morning of March 2, 2022 at Mount Pleasant Manor in Mount Pleasant, SC. Ray was born on December 3, 1931 to Stephen and Mary Andrasy in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the youngest of three children (sisters Virginia and Eleanor). After graduating from Chaney High School, Ray went on to study Art Education at Youngstown College and received a Bachelor's degree. Ray was then called to serve in the US Army, stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado from 1953-1955. After serving, Ray returned to Youngstown and began working as an insurance adjuster. It was during this time he met and fell in love with a claimant, Arlene. They were married in 1958 for 30 years and had two children, Kimberly and Kelly. Ray was a wonderful and devoted father who loved cars, spending weekends at the cottage he built at Lake Erie (Saybrook, Ohio), fishing, boating and family time. An opportunity to manage mobile home parks took Ray and Arlene to Florida, where they enjoyed their work together for five years until Arlene passed away. Ray was active at his church in Florida, and it was there he met and married Pam (stepson Tim). They, too, managed mobile home parks together until Ray retired. They moved to The Villages, FL where he enjoyed all the community amenities, especially golf. Ray and Pam were married for 20 years, until Pam passed away. Ray remained at The Villages until moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 2016. While living in Charleston, he enjoyed taking rides anywhere with a view of the water, watching boats, stopping for chocolate ice cream or his favorite soup, church volunteer opportunities and Bible study… but, he especially enjoyed being able to see his family more often!! Ray was predeceased by his parents, wives, and sisters. Ray is survived by daughters Kimberly (Randy) Grego of Charleston, SC; Kelly (Lou) Starkey of Evans, GA; stepson Tim (Janelle) Mitchell of Port Richey, FL; grandchildren Rachael (Jay) Harmon, TX; Matthew Grego, NY; and Kyle (Skyler) Starkey, FL; three great grandsons; two step-grandsons; cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. There will be visitation and a brief service at SIMPLICITY, 7475 Peppermill Pkwy, North Charleston, SC 29418 on Friday, April 1, 2022. Ray’s family will be present to welcome loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m with service to follow until 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Raymond Andrasy's name to: Crescent Hospice, 4401 Belle Oaks Drive, Suite 105, North Charleston, SC. 29405
