Lt. Col. Raymond D. Armstrong, 86, of Malabar, FL,(formerly of Satellite Beach) passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Raymond was born on February 12, 1928 in Lenora, OK to the late Homer Avery and Lucy Lulu (Hampton) Armstrong. He moved to Florida in 1970 when he retired from a long career in the US Army. He then completed his master's degree and fulfilled a lifelong dream of following in his mothers' footsteps and becoming a teacher. He was a 5th grade teacher for over 16 years at Surfside Elementary in Satellite Beach. Of all the things he loved, collecting stamps, coins and trains were his favorites. He was predeceased by his wife, Hedy in 2005. Left behind to mourn his loss are his children, Karin (James) Day of Malabar, FL and Rodney Armstrong of Marysville, CA and two grandsons; Donald Raymond (fiancée Caitlin) Day and Russell Armstrong. Donations may be made in Raymond's memory to the A & M Assisted Living, 2180 Stratford Pointe Dr, Melbourne, FL 32904.
