Raymond Charles Bortz, 74, of Saint Petersburg, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 8, 1941 to the late Jerome and Rebecca Bortz. Ray graduated from Woodward High School in Cincinnati and attended the University of Cincinnati where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's in Fine Art. Even though his focus of study was fine art, for a majority of his career, Ray worked in accounting and income tax. Ray was passionate about art, particularly Art Nouveau and he appreciated antiques. He was an avid fan of the James Bond films and was also passionate about animals, particularly cats and dogs. Ray is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Alane Bortz. Ray is survived by his children, Aimee Rachel Alexander, Jaimie Bortz, Ashleigh Adele Elisabeth Bortz and her husband Marcus Arky; brother, Norman Bortz of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Amber and Theo Alexander. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr. MLK Street North, St. Petersburg FL 33704. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo FL 33774.
