Raymond Mata Chavana, 72, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away on January 21, 2013 in Salinas. He was born on March 14, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas. Raymond moved from San Antonio, Texas to the Salinas Valley in 1966. For over 40 years, he worked in farming in the ag industry. He loved life, people, especially his children. He is now with the Lord, his mother, brother and son. Raymond will be greatly missed. Raymond is survived by His wife, Petra E. Chavana daughters, Rosie (Armando) Amaya Magdalena (Cesar) Cervantes Terry (Willie) Castro Leticia (Servando) Zagal sons, Manuel (Elaine) Moreno Ricardo (Alma) Chavana 20 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren sisters, Maria, Consuelo and Elsie all of San Antonio, Texas Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 1-9pm with a Rosary recital at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, January 25, 2013 on 11am at the St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church 424 Towt St. Salinas, CA 93905. An Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
